VONTA is an app which builds the platform for people who have strong interests in Vintage Shopping. It provides several function, including shopping for selected vintage brands, locate nearby vintage stores, and post personal life related to vintage fashion.
Vintage shopping has been a trend throughout youth community all over the world. With vintage shopping, young people are able to utilize, DIY and recycle their clothing items in the most efficient and environmental friendly ways, to show the personality and story by their clothing.
@2ndhand.fashion.stories is a series of interview done with students from Pratt Institute, sharing their stories and their attitudes towards vintage clothing. It shows how vintage shopping has the power to change one’s shopping style, consume within one’s needs and using fashion as personality statements. “When I’m buying vintage item, I’m deciding for myself which item I would like to buy” said by Yiru Wu,“I’m not manipulated by designers or trend to decide what I wear.” Vintage shopping allows young people to redefine themselves instead following the majority and the standard within the mainstream society. (Interview done by Angela Sun, Stacey Chen, Arial Lu Celine Lui and Leihan Tang.)
The stories from Pratt students were very inspiring, which lead me to create this platform. This platform should be build to allow people to shop vintage item without physical restriction and worries of clothing quality. With vintage shopping, there are two biggest concerns. The physical stores are located only in city centers. With internet shopping, it will be more efficient to shop for people who don’t have physical access to vintage stores. With many vintage stores, they are not totally transparent with their resources. Customers are not able to get information about the actual condition of their items. Vonta could potentially solve the two problems by providing online shopping service, and having qualified, cleaned vintage items, examined and to be sold.
